Bryan Rivera Assistant Buyer in Produce & Floral Grocery Outlet Emeryville, CA Background: I was born in San Francisco, CA and raised in El Sobrante, which is in the Bay Area, and I currently live in Roseville. I will be moving back to the Bay Area in June which will be closer to my job at the GO headquarters in Emeryville. I come from a mixed white and hispanic background as my dad is from El Salvador and my Mom is from the U.S. I have a twin sister and an older brother who I’m close with, and family means everything to me. I’m currently enrolled in busi- ness management at Arizona State University in their online program and hope to finish in the next year. I’ve been with Grocery Outlet for 4 years now and it’s been a great experience for me so far. I have a unique story of how the opportunity came to me as I was a valet manager at the GO headquarters where I would park cars. I built many relationships in the office with the purchasing team and eventually got the opportunity to join the company! FPFC Connection: I learned about the FPFC when I first started with Grocery Outlet in 2019 as I had colleagues in the Ap- prentice Program. I’ve attended a few events such as the golf tournaments and luncheons as well as the FPFC Expo, which have been insightful and beneficial for me and my career development. I have watched the success my colleagues have had going through the program and I’m looking forward to following their footsteps. I applied for this program as it is the best opportunity for me to con- tinue to learn and develop in this industry, meet new people and make new connections, and help build my brand in the produce and floral world. Fun Fact: I love to play and watch sports. I’m a huge Bay Area sports fan rooting for the Giants, Niners, and Warriors. I have a twin sister which is cool to brag about even though she is older than me by two minutes and will always make sure to let everyone know. I love nature and visiting new sceneries...exploring new places is always a passion of mine. I also love food and trying new foods from different cultures as some would call me a foodie. 17
