Adam Meyer Account Executive L.A. Karma Produce Los Angeles, CA Background: I grew up in Chelan, WA, a small lake town known for its apples and pears but is now known for its grape vineyards. After high school, I moved to Wenatchee, WA, a short 35 minutes away from my hometown. Wenatchee is known as the ‘Apple Capital’. I still reside in Wenatchee and have been there for 20 years. I went to school for criminal justice but fell in love with the retail sector. I was working for Target at the time and loved the environment, so I continued to push forward with promotions and growing the business. During that time, I’ve started a family and am married. We have 3 dogs and two kids. I left Target for the produce industry in the summer of 2023 after 13 years of service. I was introduced to the industry by the owner of L.A. Karma, Shelly Sylvester. I had been looking for a change and loved the idea of a challenge – and growing up where I did, I knew a generous amount of people who worked in the produce industry. I have now been with L.A. Karma for 6 months and have loved the people and the work and am so excited for what the future holds. FPFC Connection: I heard about the program from Shelly Sylvester and her father, Mike Sylvester, who worked in produce for 35 years. Being new to the industry we all thought it would be a good leg up in understanding the logistics and supply chain of the business while also seeing the sales side. Since then, we have attended trade shows and the FPFC Dinner Dance as well as FPFC luncheons. My reason for applying is to grow my knowledge of the industry with the hope of giving that knowledge back to the next generation of produce leaders. Fun Fact: I love to be outdoors camping or golfing! We have a travel trailer and try to explore a new part of the state a few times a year with our kids and 3 dogs. 16
