emphasize that welcome he has used a simple, yet catchy message personally asking: “How can we help?” “We must embrace innovation,” he said. The Mayor backed up his positive message on Miami with statistics. According to Mayor Suárez, Miami has the lowest criminality and homicide rate per capita since the 1960’s when the population then was signifi- cantly larger; was ranked number one in recovery from the COVID pandemic; and was ranked number one in tech job growth and tech job migration. These accomplishments, according to Mayor Suárez, are no coincidence. They have been achieved by a formula that in- cludes increasing, not decreasing, funding for law enforce- ment, lowering taxes to one of the lowest levels in recorded history, and investing in the educational system, in part, by incorporating the teaching of digital literacy into school curriculums. It is no wonder, the Mayor said, that the Financial Times just last year described Miami as “the most important city in America.” And Mayor Suárez, who has made no secret of seeking higher office, does not believe that the formula that has resulted in the “Miami Miracle” is limited to Miami. He minced no words by noting that the country is ready for a generational change in leadership. And he argued that the investments that the City of Miami has made to achieve its success do not need to stay just in Miami. “They can become the success story for all American cities, because America is one big city.” A nice welcome to Miami . . .
