COUNCIL NEWS DON GANN MOVES ON, EXECUTIVE SEARCH BEGINS In early October, the Fresh Produce & Floral Council Board of Directors announced the departure of Don Gann as president, and its plan to bring in an interim executive as it conducts a search for a new leader. Gann joined the FPFC after spending more than 35 years with Stater Bros. Markets. He was brought on to the FPFC staff in October of 2020 as the interim executive director and quickly began diving into the FPFC’s membership and events. In mid- 2021, he was named president. In mid-October, he resigned his position to take a senior leadership role with Southern California retailer Smart & Final. Under Gann’s leadership, the FPFC has thrived, even during the challenging times of uncertainty. His unwavering commitment to the organiza- tion’s mission has positioned the FPFC with a strong foundation for a vibrant and prosper- ous future. Gann’s dedication to the fresh produce and floral industry has been instru- mental in elevating FPFC’s impact. “Don Gann has been a driving force behind the FPFC’s success,” said Michael Schutt, chair of the FPFC. “His vision, lead- ership and tireless efforts have propelled us forward, ensuring that our industry remains resilient and adaptable. On behalf of the entire board of directors, I want to thank Don for his outstanding service and dedication to the FPFC.” Gann’s tenure as president has been marked by many achievements, including fostering valuable industry relationships, in- creasing membership, expanding educational initiatives, and enhancing the FPFC’s pres- ence as a leading advocate for the industry. “It has been an incredible journey serving as president of the Fresh Produce & Floral Council,” said Gann. “Building member- ship, ensuring that the FPFC has a strong foundation, and delivering more value to our membership have been my top priorities throughout my tenure. I’m immensely grate- ful for the unwavering support and dedication of the board of directors and our exceptional staff. Together, we’ve achieved remarkable milestones, and I am confident that the FPFC is well-prepared to continue thriving in the years ahead. I look forward to witness- ing the continued growth and success of this outstanding organization.” 14
