DR. LINDA OLSON, PROFESSOR EMERITUS OF DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGY AT UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SAN DIEGO (UCSD), LITERALLY ROLLED ONTO THE STAGE AT THE ANNUAL MEETING IN SAN DIEGO LAST SEPTEMBER TO SHARE HOW SHE TURNED TRAGEDY AND DEVASTATION INTO TRIUMPH.
With understated irony and humor, this remarkable doctor, mother, and wife delivered a message of not just overcoming adversity but the basics of finding joy in life.
“I know that every single person in this room has had something shitty happen to them and you developed your own ways of getting through it. But I want to show you ours because it’s funny, it was fun, and it continues on,” Dr. Olson began her comments.
Making the audience laugh and cry along the way, Dr. Olson went on to tell the story of her remarkable but unexpected life. She began with the tragic turn she expe- rienced on a holiday vacation to Germany as a 29-year- old, recently married, third-year radiology resident.
