          AI In Trial
                    15 JOURNAL
The Spring Meeting CLE Program was a collaborative effort of two committees, Advocacy in the 21st Century (A21C) and Complex Litigation. The committees’ joint aim was practical- ity, deciding to leave apocalyptic prognostications about AI to others. Instead, a panel of speakers provided a pragmatic discussion of AI’s valuable uses and its hazardous pitfalls.
Roslyn Levine KC, A21C Chair, moderated the panel, stepping in for Complex Litigation Chair Terri Mascherin, who unexpectedly had to bow out when her husband dismounted his horse with unanticipated consequences.
The panellists were:
• Professor Maura Grossman, Professor of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo and Professor of Law at Osgoode Hall Law School.
• The Honorable Sam Thumma, a judge of the Arizona Court of Appeals.
• FACTL Carolyn Fairless, an active trial lawyer who speaks and writes on issues relating to legal ethics.
• FACTL David Wolfsohn, whose trial practice centers on intellectual property.
• Dr. Jeffrey Frederick, founder of Jeff Frederick Trial Consulting Services.
• Dr. Daniel Wolfe, Senior Director of Jury Consulting at Magna Legal Services.
