JOHN P. VALENTE III, Crofton MD, played Division 1 baseball at the University of Illinois under coach Augie Garrido, who was the winningest coach in NCAA Divi- sion 1 baseball history when he retired a few years ago with a 1,975–951–9 record. John also was invited to play one summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League with many players who made it to the major leagues (un- like John), including Frank Thomas and Jeff Bagwell. PAUL WADDELL, Jonesboro AK, does not in any way move as his name implies. BUCKNER WELLFORD, Memphis TN, has impressive ties to the College through marriage. His sister is married to Ju- dicial Fellow, District Judge Thomas Robinson Parker; his cousin is married to FACTL Shea Sisk Wellford. Buckner served as page for Senator Howard Baker when he (Buck- ner, not the Senator) was fourteen. He remained involved in politics until the past few years, for reasons he ascribes to recent events in national politics. Buckner grew up playing tennis, and for a period of time as an adult was a competi- tive level (5.0) player. MICHAEL WIGGINS, Annapolis MD, has always sought balance by counting the hours he spends at his desk, in deposition or in trial and trying to devote equal time with family and friends, turning a wrench in his garage, hiking in the woods with his rescue dogs, playing a round of golf or tennis or taking a long drive on country roads in his “Flame Red” classic Jeep. JULIE WILLOUGHBY, Juneau AK, worked her way through the University of San Francisco as an apprentice/ journeyman electrical technician with the now infamous PG&E and played Rugby on a team that won a couple of national championships. After Stanford Law she returned home to Alaska as a DA for a few years but principally doing criminal defense both as a public defender and in private practice. Over the years she became aware that the broken criminal justice system impacts the mental health of every- one involved and decided to do something. She went back to grad school in clinical psychology, earned an MA in 2022, and is currently working part-time at Juneau’s Community Mental Health Center while still practicing law. STEPHEN J. WOJCIECHOWSKI, Thunder Bay ON, main- tains an insurance defence practice and teaches Civil Prac- tice at the local law school, both a second-year intro class and an advanced third year class. He was lucky enough to argue a case before the Supreme Court of Canada quite early in his career in 2002, but not lucky enough to have won it. JOHN WORDEN, San Francisco CA, is a blackbelt Kung Fu instructor, multiple national champion and silver medalist at the world Kung Fu Championships. In 2018 he donat- ed a kidney to a stranger. His first album, I Am Icarus, was released last Fall. Apparently not af- flicted with hubris as was the original Icarus, John mod- estly asked his last jury for only half of what they awarded.
