JUSTINE HARRIS, New York NY, spent nine years as a federal public defender before embarking upon a largely white collar defense practice, but she often returns to her blue col- lar roots; she serves on the boards of three separate defense organizations and was honored by Gideon’s Promise for her work during the pandemic to re- cruit and support pro bono lawyers to bring compassionate release petitions. JEFF HELMS, Homerville GA, practiced for fourteen years with his wife Cathy before she was elected Alapaha District Attorney; Cathy is now a Senior Assistant Dis- trict Attorney for the Georgia Southern Judicial Circuit. Jeff’s father purchased a small farm in Australia in the mid 1960s, and Jeff and his family made more than twenty-five trips there over the years. But Jeff and Cathy spend more time at their own farm near Homerville which they have developed into a rich habitat for wildlife, grass fed live- stock, and an extensive vegetable garden. PATRICIA JONES, Baton Rouge LA, is a descendant on her father’s side of an Attorney General of the United States (John Nel- son – 1843-1845) and on her mother’s side of an Attorney General of the Spanish Colony of Louisiana (Don Pablo Lanusse – 1801-1802). Tricia always wanted to be a prosecutor, and she succeed- ed. Other than a two-year clerkship for a federal district judge, she has worked as a prosecutor for her entire thirty- plus-year career. Her bravest act and proudest moment was adopting her daughter from Kazakhstan as a single mom. ERIC KAHN, Springfield NJ, is dedicated to various chari- table organizations including being a Board Member and Gala Co-Chair of the New Jersey Chapter of the Unit- ed Negro College Fund, a Board Member of Partner for Women and Justice, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence, and a past recipi- ent of the Equal Justice Medal for Major Contributions to Pro Bono Clients awarded by Legal Services of New Jersey. MICHAEL KLEIN K.C., Vancouver BC, earned an honours degree in Biology, planning to become a doctor, but mem- orizing biochemical pathways did not have much appeal to him so he drifted for a bit and after a year away re- turned to school for a law degree. Michael looks at the ocean every day and is lucky to have a boat to enjoy the sea and fishing. Michael still plays hockey with enthusi- asm though he confesses that the finer points of the game elude him. MICHAEL P. KORIBANICS, Clifton NJ, is a former prose- cutor and now a defense attorney. WILLIAM A. KRAIS, Morristown NJ, worked the family greenhouse business from childhood to college. Follow- ing law school and a judicial clerkship in Arizona, Bill re- turned to New Jersey for practice. Bill is in his fifth year as Board Chair for the Matheny School and Hospital, a fully licensed school and special hospital serving intellectually and developmentally disabled children and adults. SCOTT KREAMER, Kansas City KS, played center and snapped to future NFL coach Sean Payton for six years in junior high and high school. He performed in two operas in college. He had a trial in Chicago some years ago and hired his brother as local counsel. Their parents, who lived in the suburbs, came to watch; when the judge realized who they were, he called Scott up to the bench and an- nounced that he had made a reservation for the family at a local restaurant and would hold off resumption of the trial until they had a nice lunch. NICHOLAS LAMB, St. Lou- is MO, was President of the Knights of the Cauliflower Ear, an iconic group of St. Lou- is businessmen formed in the 1930’s to enjoy sports, camara- derie and tradition. His golf game is horrific, having once hit the ball out of bounds on 16 of the 18 holes, but in the day he was a decent hockey player, once scoring five goals in a pickup game. HALLIE B. LEVIN, New York NY, nourished her love of theatrics and performance as a collegiate a cappella singer, singing alto as a member of the award-winning group Off the Beat at the University of Pennsylvania. She also starred in several Gilbert and Sullivan productions, including as Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance! WARREN W. LINDSEY, Maitland FL, represents clients in a wide range of criminal matters in State and Feder- al Court. His wife of forty years, Eileen Forrester, is the Chief Assistant Public Defender in the 9th Judicial Circuit of Florida.
