 SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION DR. JENNIFER LANGUELL  DR. JENNIFER LANGUELL IS THE FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT OF TRIFECTA CONSTRUCTION SOLUTIONS, WHICH WORKS WITH THE DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT AND CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRIES TO CREATE HIGH PERFORMANCE, GREEN SOLUTIONS.  A graduate of the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and a PhD in materials science, engineering, civil engineering and sustainable construction, she has won numerous awards from environmental, government and industry groups, and has also worked as a consultant and presenter on the Discovery Channel’s Planet Earth. She has a simple goal: Saving the planet. “Saving the planet and climate change are not easy sells, so how do you change an industry? You’re not going to make someone care about sustainability, but you can make them care about the bottom line. Smart, resource efficient solutions that increase the health and safety of a community and are also economically beneficial to the community and the people who are trying to create better things in the community.” Dr Languell noted that she is usually dressed in boots, jeans and a hard hat to do what she does, but “I know how to clean up when I need to.” Dr. Languell described the Babcock Ranch Community that she helped design and build, a community on the west coast of Florida that took the brunt of Hurricane Ian without any appreciable damage. How was that possible? Dr. Languell’s abridged remarks follow: You’ve heard my background: material science engineering.
